THIS IS A 1972 VINTAGE BLONDE TELECASTER
WITH VINTAGE BIGSBY VIBRATO TAIL PIECE INSTALLED.
THIS GUITAR HAS BEEN MY MAIN PLAYER FOR YEARS NOW.
SHE'S ONLY BEING MOVED ASIDE TO MAKE ROOM FOR ANOTHER RECENT OLDER AQUISITION.
I SIMPLY CAN'T JUSTIFY HAVING TOO MANY VINTAGE PIECES,...
I DO HAVE A LIMIT.
THIS LITTLE BLONDE IS A MODECOME OF TONE AND PLAYABILTY.
THE FRETS WERE RECENTLY REDONE WITHOUT CHIPPING OUT THE MAPLE BOARD THEN A THN COAT OF NITRO WAS APPLIED TO THE BOARDS FACE.
SO SHE’S GOT TONS OF LIFE IN THE NEW 6105’S.
SHE WAS SETUP BY THE AMAZING PETE BROWN OF SOUTH JERSEY GUITAR REPAIR.
THE ORIGINAL SADDLES HAVE EVEN BEEN SLIGHTLY ANGLED ALA
DANNY GATTON FOR THE CORRECT INTONATION.
SHE WAS A SOME POINT ROUTED FOR A HUMBUCKER A LONG TIME AGO SO I USED THE OPPORTUNITY TO INSTALL A WONDERFUL SOUNDING AMERICAN
FENDER STRAT PICKUP.
IN THE NECK SHE’S A BALLSY STRAT. SRV ALL DAY LONG.
IN THE MIDDLE POSITION, (MY FAVORITE), SHE HAS THAT
PERFECT WET ROCKABILLY SOUND.
THE BRIDGE PICKUP IS I BELIEVE A 1968 THAT I REMOVED THE PLATE FROM FOR INCREASED MIDRANGE RESPONSE.
LET’S JUST SAY IT WORKED AND THE BRIDGE IS AWESOME AND NEVER HARSH.
I MY SELF HAVE NEVER BEEN TOO BOTHERED BY WHAT WAS UNDER THE GUARD AS I DON’T BUY GUITARS AS MUCH AS INVESTMENTS AS I DO FOR TONE AND PLAYABILITY.
I DON’T DO GIGS WITH THE GUARD OFF SO I’M LOOKING FOR PERFORMANCE.
THE BODY IS ONE PIECE OF SWAMP ASH. THE GUITAR WEIGHS ABOUT 8 3/4 POUNDS WITH THE BIGSBY, SO SHE'S NOT HEAVY.
THIS GUITAR IS A PLEASURE EVEN TO JUST LOOK AT.
I HEAR PEOPLE SAY “THIS IS NOT A COLLECTOR’S PIECE” ALL THE TIME.
I HEARTILY DISAGREE. IN MY HUMBLE OPINION THE GUITARS THAT ARE
THE MOST BEAT UP ARE USUALLY THAT WAY FOR A REASON.
I BELIEVE THAT REASON IS THAT NO MATTER WHAT WAS DONE TO THEM THEY WERE
ALWAYS WORTHY OF BEING ON THE GIG FOR TONE AND PLAYABILITY REASONS.
THAT IS DEFINITELY THE CASE HERE.
THE PIECES I COLLECT ARE ALL LIKE THIS.
I INSTALLED THE BIGSBY BECAUSE IN MY MIND IT’S A MUST TO DO SURF, ROCKABLLY AND ROCK AND ROLL.
IF YOU’RE NOT A FAN OF A VIBRATO DON’T WAIST YOUR TIME HERE.
IF YOU’RE OF LIKE MIND THIS BIGSBY IS PERFECT FOR ALL THE AFORE MENTIONED STUFF.
THE NECK IS A VERY COMFORTABLE MEDIUM “c”.
THE NUT WAS HAND FASHION BY ME AND IS REAL BONE.
THE TUNER INTERIORS WERE UPGRADED TO THE LATER
SPERZEL INARDS.
THEY ARE SMOOTH AND STEADY.
THE NECK IS STRAIGHT AND TRUE.
THE ACTION IS SET FOR ROCK AND ROLL AND BLUES.
I PLAY HARD.
THE POTS ARE NEW CTS. THE FENDER BRIDGE PLATE I MADE AND AGED.
THE KNOBS ARE ORIGINAL. THE JACK CUP IS ORIGINAL.
THE STRAP BUTTONS ARE ORIGINAL. THE BIGSBY IS OLD.
ALL THE WEAR IS REAL FROM GIGGING.
IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR A GUITAR TO KEEP
UNDER THE BED THIS ISN’T HER.
IF, HOWEVER, YOU’RE LOOKING FOR A GUITAR THAT WILL BECOME A FAITHFUL FRIEND GIG AFTER GIG
AND
DELIVER EVERY TIME,…HERE YA GO.
THIS GUITAR HAS THE CORRECT
UPPER BOUT SHAPE THAT IS INDICATIVE OF THE TRUE BEAUTY AND BALANCE OF THE
FENDER TELECASTER.
SOME 72S AND ALL LATER MODELS HAVE A SHAPE THAT CLIMBS HIGH ON THE UPPER BOUT SIDE OF THE NECK
DUE TO A ROUTING MACHINE THAT JUST PLAIN SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN
USED.
GOOGLE "74 TELECASTER" AND LOOK AT THE AREA WHERE THE NECK MEETS THE BODY ON THE UPPER
BOUT.
YOU'LL SEE WHAT I MEAN.
THIS PUPPY EVEN HAS A SLIGHT ROUTER HUMP!
THE ORIGINAL BRIDGE PLATE WILL BE AVAILABLE IN ANOTHER AUCTION.
THIS IS OBVIOUSLY NOT THE ORIGINAL PICK GUARD. IT'S AN AMERICAN
FENDER GUARD.
I LIKE IT BECAUSE THE YELLOW IN THE GUARD BRINGS OUT THE FADED YELLOW OF THE BLONDE.
I BELIEVE I MAY ALSO HAVE THE PICK GUARD THAT CAME ON HER WHEN I PURCHASED THE GUITAR YEARS AGO.
IT'S A 3 PLY BLACK GUARD WHICH
WAS ROUTED FOR A PAF. I MAY ALSO PUT IT UP FOR AUCTION.
IT'S REALLY COOL IN THAT IT HAS THE RED TORTOISE COLOR ON THE BACK THAT WAS
USED ON THE LATE
